This video essay proposes a critical rereading of forensic images circulating in mass media, particularly in the Mexican sensationalist press known as nota roja.
The work offers a detailed analysis of the front page of the newspaper Pásala, published on February 10, 2020, following the feminicide of Ingrid Escamilla. It reflects on the pedagogies of cruelty (Segato) operating within this type of press, where desire and horror overlap, and dehumanized bodies—especially corpses and feminized bodies—are depicted as objects of media consumption. The video questions the ethics of the gaze and emphasizes the urgency of changing visual habits shaped by media violence. Through editing, voice, and rhythm, it examines how such images influence collective memory. The work identifies the problem and seeks a space for symbolic reparation as well as a more ethical relationship to the image.
